The Strawberry Full Moon

Full Moon
18 June

Today is Full Moon at 17:30 (5:30 p.m.) GMT/Universal Time.

That's 6.30 pm in London and 12:30 p.m. Central Time in North America, where the moon turns full during the daylight hours today. Typically, the full moon rises around sunset. However, at mid-northern latitudes in North America today, the moon will rise about half an hour after sunset. Refer to this almanac page to find links to the moonrise time in your local sky.

Here on the north-east coast of in Brazil just south of the Equator, the moon rose around the same time as sunset at 5.30 pm, and even though it is the rainy winter season, the skies were clear and the air was warm and balmy down at the beach in Praia do Frances, and the rising full moon was gigantic and a beautiful creamy yellow.

The Strawberry Moon - a true Blue Moon

Today's June full moon is the fourth of four full moons to fall between the March 21th equinox and the June 20th solstice. Normally, there are only three full moons in one season, and the fourth of four full moons to fall in one season is correctly called a blue moon, quite different to the popular modern belief that the blue moon refers to the second of two full moons to occur in the same calendar month.

Historically the Native Americans who lived in North America kept track of the seasons by giving distinctive names to the recurring full Moons. Each full Moon name was applied to the entire month in which it occurred. These names, and some variations, were used by the Algonquin tribes from New England to Lake Superior.

The Algonquin tribes knew this Moon as a time to gather ripening strawberries and named it the Strawberry Moon, a name which was universal to every Algonquin tribe. Because the relatively short season for harvesting strawberries comes each year during the month of June, the full Moon that occurs during that month was christened for the strawberry! In Europe the June full moon was known as the Rose Moon.

Some info from the Aboriginal Cree initiative, based in Ontario, Canada:

Thirteen Grandmother Moon Teachings:

June - Strawberry Moon

The sixth moon of Creation is Strawberry Moon. The medicine of the strawberry is reconciliation. It was during this moon cycle that communities usually held their annual feasts, welcoming everyone home, regardless of their differences over the past year, letting go of judgment and/or self-righteousness.

In Earth & Sky, Bruce McClure explains how like every full moon, the full moon of the month of June has its own special quality. In June, the full moon travels low as seen from the northern hemisphere. It mimics the path of the December sun across the sky, and is this month especially low for those living in the northern hemisphere, because it comes so near the solstice.

As seen from both the northern and southern hemispheres, the moon – like the December solstice sun – will rise far south of due east and set far south of due west. North of the Arctic Circle, tonight's moon – like the winter sun – will be too far south to climb above the horizon.

Meanwhile, in the southern hemisphere, where it's winter now, tonight's moon will mimic the summer sun, arcing high in the heavens. South of the Antarctic Circle, the moon will simulate the midnight sun – up around the clock.

Preparing for the Solstice on Friday

Use the abundant energy of the full moon to create a clear picture for yourself of how you would like to see your life unfolding during and after this significant period.

Whether or not you are joining us for this event and have sent us a focus to "put out there" for you before the start of the treatment process on Friday, it is very beneficial to write down for yourself any health issues or areas of your life where there is a need for the clearing of old energies no longer needed, and the manifestation of another reality. Try to take time over the next couple of days to consciously visualize the manifestation of your reality exactly as though it has already unfolded in the way you would like to see it manifest, for the highest good of all. This will add a lot of power to the efficacy of the Solstice energies for each of us.

The astrologer, Mary MacLean, emphasises that the Mercury retrograde and the position of Pluto in the sky adds a certain spice to the way we will experience this full moon:

The Full Moon is in Sagittarius at 27 degrees. Pluto is where? 29 degrees of Sagittarius…..hmmmmm….I expect this to be intense and a direct result of the last 6 months. (I bet you thought I was going to say the last 2 weeks.) The last time Pluto was at 29 degrees was January. Think back, what was challenging you during this period? Well, it's here now in all its pagan power. Wherever the Full Moon lands in your chart , there will be a change in your everyday life: a change you will have to get used to and a change that lies heavily on your consciousness. It will be interesting to follow the time line of past events to see if they coincide with current transits. Mercury is retrograde and continues to enforce the rule of "always read the fine print". By June 19th Mercury will be at 13 degrees of Gemini starting its direct motion. What has been going on for the last week is a combination of New Moon in Gemini and Mercury retro at the same exact degree of 13 degrees. You will notice that you have made some important decisions and the results will be forthcoming after July 4, 2008. By the end of the month four major planets will be retrograde. This promises to be very eventful.

Please join us for the Solstice distant healing event on June 20!

Solstice
20 June 2008

The Earth Heal Geoharmonic Research Project will be hosting a group distant healing event on Friday, June 20, starting at 13:30 local Brazilian time, which is 16.30 GMT/UT, and continuing for about 3 - 4 hours, ending between 19:30 and 20:30 GMT/UT.

All people and animals everywhere in the world are welcome to join us for this event, on a donation basis for those who are able to, and on a pro bono basis for those who are unable to make a donation.

The treatment process will assist in "setting the energy" for participants, in preparation for the Solstice, which occurs at 23:59,GMT/UT, about 3 hours after the close of the treatment process.

To view the starting time of the event in your part of the world, please go to this link at the World Clock.

If there is something interesting happening around Solstice in your part of the world, please leave a comment about it by clicking on this Post a Comment button or at the foot of this post.

The treatment process will include more than 200 participants around the world, and will be facilitated by Edna Spennato in Praia do Frances on the NE coast of Brazil, with the assistance of five surrogates located on different continents, surrogating on behalf of all the participants around the world.

There is still time to join us for this event - for more info about how to register as a participant, please see the links at the foot of the page or if you cannot access the links marked GD, which are stored at Google Documents, with ease, just send us an e-mail with the subject line, "More info please", and we will e-mail all the relevant info to you.

June Solstice

The June Solstice is referred to as the summer solstice in the northern hemisphere and the winter solstice in the southern hemisphere. At this time, the sun is at its furthest point from the equator – it reaches its northernmost point at 23:59 GMT/UT on June 20, when the earth's north pole is tilting directly towards the sun.

And although the moment of Solstice occurs only one minute before midnight GMT/UT, it still places this year's Solstice on June 20, and is the first time since the year 1896 that the June solstice has occurred before June 21. 2008 is a leap year, and without that extra day in February, this year's June solstice would have fallen on June 21. From this date forward, all leap years for the rest of the 21st century will feature June 20 solstices.

The June solstice is also known as the northern solstice because it occurs when the sun is directly over the Tropic of Cancer in the northern hemisphere. This day has the longest hours of daylight for those living north of the Tropic of Cancer. The "midnight sun" remains visible throughout the night to the north of the Arctic Circle, while those who live south of the southern Arctic Circle will not see sun at all during this time of the year.

"Solstice" is derived from two Latin words: "sol" meaning sun, and "sistere," meaning "to cause to stand still". This is because, as the solstice approaches, the noonday sun rises higher and higher in the sky on each successive day. On the day of the solstice, it seems to stop rising altogether (in fact, it does rise slightly, but only an imperceptible amount), compared to the day before. In this sense, it "stands still."

Astrological configurations during this period

The Solstice will be preceded by a Full moon on 18 June, when Venus/Sun opposes Pluto/Moon, and Uranus forms a wide T-square to this potent opposition. According to Barbara Hand Clow, this configuration suggests "great tectonic and possibly financial stress" around the planet:

"...the New Moons are in perigee (closest to the Earth) on May 5, June 3, July 2, November 12, and December 12. This means there is greater tectonic stress and unusual weather patterns, which was the case during May. The tidal flows in the Pacific were very extreme in May, which intensified human emotions as well as water flow.

During the June 18 Full Moon, Mars in Leo is on the lunar South Node in close opposition to Chiron on the lunar North Node. This suggests violence, pain, and wounding, but it also suggests a great heart opening. I hope these energies can be worked out through love and compassion.

Jupiter sextiling Uranus still forms a Yod to the South Node, but this time Mars is also on the South Node. This is a very interesting configuration that could result in a significant peace somewhere on the planet....perhaps countries will just lay down their arms, which is more likely than usual with Chiron right on the lunar North Node for months. We shall see. Be sure to watch what is going on during this fiery Full Moon in Sagittarius with Pluto on the Galactic Center! And remember to check Astroflash for the Summer Solstice reading around June 18."

An astrological ephemeris of important aspects for the year 2008 can be seen at this link on Astroprofile. It's particularly interesting to look at what was happening in the skies during three "hot spot" periods between the Equinox of March 21 and Solstice on June 20: March 27 to April 2, May 2 - 11, and June 13 - 16.

Some of the major astrological aspects at this time

June 18
Full Moon

The farsighted Sagittarius moon energy is directed toward solitude and freedom of movement. The inquisitive Gemini sun energy is directed toward interacting with other people. The best use of this full moon is to focus on helping others, teaching them what you have learned, and to understand the need for balance between social interaction and your private life.

This could be a very intense period, since many planets are opposing or nearly opposing Puto. This would be a good day to visualize peace anad harmony spreading through the world. This can be done up to two days before a full moon. Colors: purple for Sagittarius, yellow for Gemini.

June 19
Mercury goes direct (Rx since May 26)

Whew! The time for re-examining old commitments and previous projects is at an end. Move forward with new plans, new projects.

June 20
Sun opposes Pluto

The negative side of Pluto is always associated with manipulation, domination, and deceit. The positive use of Pluto's energy is to clear your house (both your physical and spiritual one), getting rid of ideas, relationships, and behaviors that no longer work. Use today's energy to meditate on how you can be more cooperative with others, and to release your desire to control others. Since both the sun and Pluto are in mutable signs (Gemini and Sagittarius), flexibility and the related themes of unpredictability and fickleness are key issues.

June 20
Summer Solstice - Sun enters Cancer

In the northern hemisphere, where the sun is at its most potent today, the longest day of the year is celebrated; in the southern hemisphere, the sun is at its weakest point, and it is the shortest day and longest night of the year which is celebrated, when the pendulum turns and the days start getting longer from that moment on (the return of the light).

June 21
Mars opposes Neptune

Mars represents enerrgy and aggression, while Neptune represents intuition, idealism, but also deceit. The opposition shows a conflict between those energies. An opposition can be seen as a type of balance, though, so use the energy today to find balance between rest and activity, between directness and subtlety, between selfishness and compassion.

The significance of Solstice

Ancient cultures always celebrated the Solstices and Equinoxes as particularly sacred days of the year. The solstice is a time to recall the reverence and understanding that the ancient people had for the sky. Some 5,000 years ago, huge stones were placed in a circle on a broad plain now known as Stonehenge in England and were aligned with the moment of sunrise on June solstice (more info below).

We may never comprehend the full significance of Stonehenge, but we do know that knowledge of this sort wasn't isolated to just one part of the world. Around the same time Stonehenge was being constructed in England, two great pyramids and then the Sphinx were built on Egyptian sands. If you were to stand at the Sphinx on sunset of June solstice and gaze toward the two pyramids, you'd see the sun set exactly between them.

From the Encyclopedia of the Unusual and Unexplained - Places of Mystery and Power:

"The Sphinx at Giza faces due east and is referred to in some Egyptian hieroglyphics as Hamachis, the god of the rising Sun. Later, Hamachis evolved into the name Hor-em-Akhet. The akhet is an Egyptian hieroglyph in the image of two triangles, both open at the base, connected by a line, which represents where the sun rises and sets—an image that comes to life when looking out from the Sphinx to the pyramids of Cheops and Cephren at sunset on the summer solstice. As the Sun sets between the pyramids, it highlights the image of two triangles (the pyramids) connected by a line (the earth)."

Awed by the great power of the sun, civilizations in the northern areas have for centuries celebrated the Summer Solstice, also known as Midsummer (as depicted in Midsummer Nights Dream by Shakespeare):

Prehistoric Europe: Many remains of ancient stone structures can be found throughout Europe. Some date back many millennia BCE. Many appear to have religious/astronomical purposes; others are burial tombs. These structures were built before writing was developed, and one can only speculate on the significance of the summer solstice to the builders. Perhaps the most famous of these structures is Stonehenge, a megalith monument on Salisbury Plain in Wiltshire. It was built in three stages, between circa 3000 and 1500 BCE. "... the main axis is aligned on the midsummer sunrise--an orientation that was probably for ritual rather than scientific purposes. Four "station stones" within the monument form a rectangle whose shorter side also points in the direction of the midsummer sunrise.

The ancient Germanic, Slav and Celtic tribes in Europe celebrated with dancing and bonfires to help increase the sun's energy. "It was the night of fire festivals and of love magic, of love oracles and divination. It had to do with lovers and predictions, when pairs of lovers would jump through the luck-bringing flames..." It was believed that the crops would grow as high as the couples were able to jump. Through the fire's power, "...maidens would find out about their future husband, and spirits and demons were banished." Another function of bonfires was to generate sympathetic magic: giving a boost to the sun's energy so that it would remain potent throughout the rest of the growing season and guarantee a plentiful harvest.

The Druids: Perhaps the most enduring modern ties with Summer Solstice were the Druids' celebration of the day as the "wedding of Heaven and Earth", resulting in the present day belief of a "lucky" wedding in June. Known as Alban Heruin, it was midway between the spring Equinox (Alban Eiler; "Light of the Earth") and the fall Equinox (Alban Elfed; "Light of the Water"). "This midsummer festival celebrates the apex of Light, sometimes symbolized in the crowning of the Oak King, God of the waxing year. At his crowning, the Oak King falls to his darker aspect, the Holly King, God of the waning year..." The days following Alban Heruin form the waning part of the year because the days become shorter.

In ancient Rome, the festival of Vestalia lasted from June 7 - 15, and was held in honor of the Roman Goddess of the hearth, Vesta. Married women were able to enter the shrine of Vesta during the festival. At other times of the year, only the vestal virgins were permitted inside.

The Essenes: This was a Jewish religious group active in Palestine during the 1st century CE. Archaeologists have found that the largest room of the ruins at Qumran (location of the Dead Sea Scrolls) appears to be a sun temple. At the time of the summer solstice, the rays of the setting sun shine at 286 degrees along the building's longitudinal axis, and illuminate the eastern wall. The room is oriented at exactly the same angle as the Egyptian shrines dedicated to the sun. Two ancient authorities -- the historian Josephus and the philosopher Filon of Alexandria -- had written that the Essenes were sun worshippers. Until recently, their opinion had been rejected by modern historians.

In Ancient Gaul, the Midsummer celebration was called Feast of Epona, named after a mare goddess who personified fertility, sovereignty and agriculture. She was portrayed as a woman riding a mare.

In ancient Sweden, a Midsummer tree was set up and decorated in each town. The villagers danced around it. Women and girls would customarily bathed in the local river. This was a magical ritual, intended to bring rain for the crops.

In Ancient China, their summer solstice ceremony celebrated the earth, the feminine, and the yin forces. It complemented the winter solstice which celebrated the heavens, masculinity and yang forces. The Chinese marked the day by honoring Li, the Chinese Goddess of Light.

Catholic and Nordic Protestant cultures still celebrate the feast of St. John from June 23 to June 24 (see St. John's Eve, Ivan Kupala Day (celebrated in Russia) and Midsummer). In Brazil, he is called Sao Joao, and there are plenty of festivities, with a focus on the harvesting of the corn, which is one of the staples of this region, and dancing the "quadrille".

Neopaganism: This is a group of religions which honour ancient Pagan religions. Of these, Wicca is the most common; it is loosely based partly on ancient Celtic beliefs and practices. Wiccans recognize eight seasonal days of celebration. Four are minor sabbats and occur at the two solstices and the two equinoxes. The other are major sabbats which happen approximately halfway between an equinox and solstice. The summer solstice sabbat is often called Midsummer or Litha. Wiccans may celebrate the sabbat on the evening before, at sunrise on the morning of the solstice, or at the exact time of the astronomical event. "Midsummer is the time when the sun reaches the peak of its power, the earth is green and holds the promise of a bountiful harvest. The Mother Goddess is viewed as heavily pregnant, and the God is at the apex of his manhood and is honored in his guise as the supreme sun." It is a time for divination and healing rituals. Divining rods and wands are traditionally cut at this time.

Native Americans:

The Natchez tribe in the southern U.S. "worshiped the sun and believed that their ruler was descended from him. Every summer they held a first fruits ceremony." Nobody was allowed to harvest the corn until after the feast.

Males in the Hopi tribe dressed up as Kachinas - the dancing spirits of rain and fertility who were messengers between humanity and the Gods. At Midsummer, the Kachinas were believed to leave the villages to spend the next six months in the mountains, where they were believed to visit the dead underground and hold ceremonies on their behalf.

Native Americans have created countless stone structures linked to equinoxes and solstices. Many are still standing. One was called Calendar One by its modern-day discoverer. It is in a natural amphitheatre of about 20 acres in size in Vermont. From a stone enclosure in the center of the bowl, one can see a number of vertical rocks and other markers around the edge of the bowl "At the summer solstice, the sun rose at the southern peak of the east ridge and set at a notch at the southern end of the west ridge." The winter solstice and the equinoxes were similarly marked. The Bighorn Medicine Wheel west of Sheridan, WY is perhaps the most famous of the 40 or more similar "wheels" on the high plains area of the Rocky Mountains. Most are located in Canada. At Bighorn, the center of a small cairn, that is external to the main wheel, lines up with the center of the wheel and the sun rising at the summer solstice.

Today, the day is still celebrated around the world, most notably in England at Stonehenge and Avebury, where thousands still gather towelcome the sunrise on the June Solstice. Pagan spirit gatherings or festivals are also common in June, when groups gather to light a sacred fire, and stay up all night to welcome the dawn.

General info about the distant healing event

During the treatment process, each participant will be worked on individually and as part of the group, and will assist the planetary healing by anchoring the healing energy in their part of the world, and releasing disharmonic energies no longer needed, on an individual and collective level.

For those who have never before experienced vibrational healing work, this is the ideal opportunity. We use a cutting-edge approach known as Synchronization Harmonics, and participation is open on a donation basis to anyone, anywhere in the world.

Or you may choose to take advantage of Earth Heal annual membership at a nominal fee, to be included as a participant in group remote events to be held on the Solstices and Equinoxes, as well as other significant dates, over the next year, and receive a discount on private treatments arranged with Edna Spennato during the year.

For info about annual membership, please go to this link, or us an e-mail with the subject line, "More info about membership please".

Feedback from participants and detailed reports about what came up during the treatment for the group as a whole, and for the collective consciousness on a planetary level, are sent out to all participants after each remote group healing event.

New participants will need to get their details and pics to us via e-mail before the event, so if you are interested in taking part, please check the links below ASAP for info on how to be included, or send your e-mail to us soon, to receive the info.

Join us for the Wesak New Moon distant healing event!

New Moon
5 May 2008

All are welcome to join us next Monday, New Moon

Changing Winds are Up...
'The wind is the breath of heaven and earth.
Into every corner it unfolds and reaches;
Without choosing between high or low,
Exalted or humble, it touches everywhere.'

Song Yu (290-223 BCE)

The treatment process will be facilitated by Edna Spennato in Praia do Frances on the NE coast of Brazil, with the assistance of five surrogates located on different continents, surrogating on behalf of all the participants around the world.

There is still time to register as a participant in this event - more info here.

The May New Moon will be particularly powerful, sandwiched in between the two Wesak Full Moons, and on the exact midpoint between Spring Equinox and Summer Solstice, a feast known as Beltane in the earth religions.

What is seeded during this New Moon will manifest fully at the Solstice on 21 June 2008, on both a personal and planetary level.

The New Moon in Taurus on May 5, 2008 represents the core of the 30-day Scorpio-Taurus Wesak Transformation period. The theme of this New Moon is “moving on and not looking back”.

As we approach the New Moon, remember that when working with this powerful creative life force energy (described here), it's important to stay focused on what we are creating in the Now and not to look back for too long at the past.

The New Moon

This New Moon occurs on May 5 at 12:18 GMT, when it will be in exactly the same direction as the Sun, and there will be no visible sunlight on the side of the Moon that faces the Earth.

The eight hours following the moment of New Moon are considered to be the most powerful hours in which to plant the seeds we wish to nurture, make our wishes and manifest our chosen reality i.e. until 20:18 GMT (or 17:18 Brazil time, 21:18 in London, and 22:18 in South Africa).

Our group distant healing event on May 5 will be happening during the powerful hours following the New Moon, starting at 13:00 GMT (or 10:00 local Brazilian time, 14:00 in London and 15:00 in Southern Africa), and continuing for approximately 3 - 4 hours, until around 17:00 GMT.

To view the exact starting time of the event in your part of the world, consult this link at the World Clock.

More info about this event and how to participate at this link: >> Please join us for the 5 May New Moon event

The new moon is always a time of new beginnings, a time to actively pursue our dreams, an idea, plan or project. The moon increases in light between the new and full moon, so at the new moon we should put our energy into the things we want to nurture, or to become stronger or more important in our lives.

The power of the new moon phase is in effect until the full moon. The 72 hours prior to the New Moon are called Balsamic moon or dark of the moon and the 2nd, 3rd and 4th of May carry very powerful energy if we use these days to make intentions. This is also an excellent time to do a detoxification on a physical level.

This is also the best time to write yourself an “Abundance Cheque”. The idea is to make use of the power of a new moon period to bring extra clarity to a goal that you want to set, and to watch this specific goal bloom and grow throughout the rest of that moon cycle. In other words, you are setting a specific "wish" into motion that will allow you to push something into manifestation in your life.

Write an Abundance Check to unblock the flow of energy in any area of your life. For more info on how to do it, go to this link.

For manifestation, the ideal time to write down our intentions is during the days preceding the New Moon, and then to read them aloud in the eight hour period following the New Moon i.e. after 12:18 GMT. Focus on whatever you would like to manifest in your life, but especially those things that you have not yet been able to attain, even though you may have wanted them for a long time. Focus, and be specific.

Because the New Moon is in Taurus this time, a pragmatic earth sign, practical goals are attainable such as working to launch a new enterprise, moving or purchasing a home, organizing finances, landscaping and gardening, decorating and home improvements, and improvement of health.

The Wesak Portal - Festival of the Buddha

We will begin the New Moon distant healing event at 13:00 GMT with the Great Invocation recited aloud, as is tradition during Wesak, and we invite all participants to join us in reciting it aloud at the start of the event, wherever you are in the world:

The Great Invocation

From the point of light within the Mind of God
Let Light stream forth into our minds
Let LIGHT descend on Earth.

From the point of love within the Heart of God
Let Love stream forth into our hearts
May LOVE increase on Earth.

From the center where the Will of God is known
Let purpose guide our wills
The PURPOSE which the masters know and serve.

From the center which we call Humanity
Let the Plan of Love and Light work out
And may it seal the door where evil dwells.

Let Light and Love and Power restore the Plan on Earth.
Let Light and Love and Power restore the Plan on Earth.
Let LIGHT and LOVE and POWER restore the Planet Earth!

Wesak is about man's union with nature and with the stars. A celebration of the divinity behind all manifestation: the infinite intelligence that lives in all. Man acknowledging his place, honoring all living beings, all participants in the cycle of life.

In honor of Guatama Buddha, for centuries in Tibet, Nepal, India and South Asia, it has been a time for meditation, chanting, prayer and devotion, with a focus on healing and enlightenment for all beings. Generosity and kindness are practiced in service of all living things, as too are dancing, painting and dramatic reenactments.

Many rituals are performed during Wesak. In Malaysia it is good karma to release caged animals. Doves, tortoises, frogs and birds are freed from small cages on the steps of temples, a good metaphor for us.

Opening the caged and limited view of ourselves, and letting that deep connection with divinity free to manifest in us is one of the best conscious actions we can perform during this period. Stepping out of a cage implies remembering how to be free.

A brotherhood between Christ and Buddha is the axis of this powerful collective encounter in the Wesak Valley each year.

The Wesak Festival is an opportunity to appreciate the unity in our diversity, as groups of all faiths unite all over the planet to invoke the Divine. More info at this link.

Two Wesak Moons this year

This year something magical is afoot: we have two Full Moons in the sign of Scorpio, which means, essentially, two Wesak Moons. The energy and field of impact are greatly magnified with two Full Moons in the same sign of Scorpio, and this rare 30-day Wesak portal won't occur again until 2027.

From the Full Moon in April to the Full Moon in May, we are engaged in a shamanic dance of death and rebirth. This series of alignments creates a transformational portal for the healing of outdated beliefs and behaviors that no longer serve our evolution. Miraculous changes happen easily within this energy. A complete reconfiguration is possible.

On April 20, a Full Moon occurred in the first degree of Scorpio. The second Wesak Moon happens 29 days later, in the last degree of Scorpio. Life as we know it could change radically between Point A and Point B. In the relentlessly transformative sign of Scorpio, the Moon's rays dig deep to illuminate what's been held in the subconscious, both individually and collectively.

With two Full Moons in Scorpio, this can be a highly emotional time. In Scorpio, death and rebirth are the vehicle of transformation. Tears cascade as we grieve the loss of what has been and make way for the new.

In Tibetan Buddhism, Wesak celebrates the birth, death and enlightenment of the Buddha. Clearly, Tibet will continue to be in the world spotlight as Buddhists and many others around the world celebrate the lunar holy day.

An ancient legend says it is during Wesak, the Taurus Full Moon, that the Buddha leaves the High place where He works and dwells (see the photograph on the left of the Wesak Valley in N.India) to return to the earth and BLESS the WORLD. This festival is not only celebrated at Wesak, North India, but also at spiritual centers throughout the world.

Beltane: May 1-5

May 1 – 5 is Beltane, a time of fertility, opening us to all that is rich, luxuriant and abundant in our lives.. So, whether we are planting ideas, projects, business, babies, relationships or just a greater sense of peace, we are planting a crop which we will harvest over the next few months, and we should take great care this month to encourage the plants and not the weeds in our lives and our minds...

Beltane is a celebration of personal blessings and the joy of community. One of the four "cross-quarters" of the solar year, Beltane marks the mid-point between the March Equinox and June Solstice. We celebrate Beltane with community festivals of renewal, joy and hope.

Traditionally observed on May 1 and sometimes referred to as May Day, Beltane is the pagan celebration of spring and the flowering of life in the northern hemisphere.

The maypole represents the merging of masculine and feminine, the god and goddess whose union creates life. We dance the maypole and jump the Beltane fire in celebration of the infinite blessings bestowed on our home, our family and our world.

Astronomically, Beltane arrives when the Sun reaches 15 degrees Taurus on May 5. A point of balance in the Earth's journey around the Sun, Beltane is a festival of renewal, fertility, sensuality and delight.

This is the time to join with others in community, to open ourselves to giving, releasing and receiving, to meditation, prayer, blessings and creating with intent, and offering our gifts in service to the Divine.

Please join us for the next group distant healing event on New Moon, 5 May, 2008

New Moon

5 May 2008

You are invited...

To participate in our next group distant healing event on May 5, which is New Moon.

The event is open to all, on a donation basis.

The treatment process will be facilitated by Edna Spennato, located in Praia do Frances on the NE coast of Brazil, with Gonzalo Leal surrogating on behalf of all the participants around the world. There will also be other surrogates anchoring the healing energy and releasing unneeded energies on behalf of the collective consciousness in other parts of the world. More info to come when details are finalised.

Participants around the globe will be combining their healing energy for the highest good of all during this event, which will begin at 10 am local Brazilian time (1 pm GMT), or 2 pm in London and 3 pm in Southern Africa, and will continue for approximately 3 - 4 hours.

To view the exact starting time of the event in your part of the world, consult this link at the
World Clock.

General info

For info about annual membership, please go to this link.

Feedback from participants and detailed reports about what came up during the treatment for the group as a whole, and for the collective consciousness on a planetary level, are sent out to all participants after each remote group healing event.

New participants will need to get their details and pics to us via e-mail before the event, so if you are interested in taking part, please check the links below ASAP for info on how to be included.

Earth Heal members do not need to e-mail us, as we already have your details and pics on our files, and all the relevant info will be sent to you in good time before the event.

This is an opportunity to harmonise with the lunar cycle, and to utilise the powerful incoming energies available for personal and planetary healing on this special day.

A short report-back on the March Equinox distant healing event from Edna, the facilitator

21 March 2008

The energies were crystal clear and incredibly powerful on the day of the event, which was also Mayan New Year, Good Friday, and one day before the full moon.

There were 217 participants located around the world, tuning in from as far afield as South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Brazil, Argentina, Dubai, the USA, Panama, the UK, Australia, New Zealand, Germany, Austria, Spain and Norway.

The event was facilitated by me (Edna Spennato), located in Praia do Frances on the North East coast of Brazil, with the assistance of five surrogates on five different continents, whose role it was to anchor the incoming healing energy and release disharmonic energies on behalf of all the participants and the collective energy field (the morphic field) of the planet.

"Kitten" Zanovitch, my 16 year old cat with me in the photograph above, also joined us, surrogating as she always does for the 32 animal participants, which included several horses, many cats and dogs, and even a budgie who was KZ's companion when we lived in Cape Town, and who had to remain there when we came to Brazil, due to laws halting the transport of birds after the bird flu outbreak!

Each of the participants was worked on during the four-hour treatment process, as an individual and as part of the group, and many participants reported experiencing intense energies and sensations during and after the treatment.

To read the feedback received from the the facilitator and surrogates sent out after the event, please go to this link. To read the feedback received from participants after the event, please go to this link.

The energy field of the planet as a whole was a major focus for this event, as well as specific countries, species, aspects of the natural kingdom, current events happening around the globe which affect masses of people, and even certain politicians whose roles are affecting the planet at this time. Some of the areas which our unseen helpers focussed on during the treatment process included:

  • The animal kingdom as a whole
  • The mineral kingdom
  • The whale and dolphin species
  • All species of amphibians
  • The ocean current known as the Gulf Stream, which carries warm water north from the Caribbean to the USA, the UK and Europe
  • Current events in Tibet, Palestine (particularly Gaza), South America (particularly Venezuela), Liberia, Ethiopia, Sudan, Somalia, Afghanistan, Iraq, Vietnam, Ireland, Italy, Cuba, Java, Russia and South Africa (with emphasis on the crime rate)
  • The Dengue outbreak in Brazil, which has killed around 67 people in Rio in the last few weeks
  • The relationship of the collective consciousness to: war crimes, the weapons industry, the mainstream media, the world economy, and the jailing of people for "thought crimes", including those known as "historical revisionists".

More info about what came up during the treatment process for participants and the collective energy field of the planet will be posted at the Earth Heal blog soon, and in the meantime, you are invited to join us for our upcoming distant healing events on 5 May (New Moon) and 21 June (Solstice).

Blessings to all, and a million kisses from Brazil's norde-este coast!

This is an opportunity to harmonise with the solar cycle, and to utilise the powerful incoming energies available for personal and planetary healing on this special day.

Equinox

Ancient traditions understand that the Equinox is a powerful time to initiate changes in our material world and shift into a new reality.

On Equinox, the Earth and Sun are in perfect balance and harmony, as the sun is centred between the Northern and Southern hemispheres, and centred between Heaven and Earth. This creates a sacred cross of balancing energy that naturally harmonizes the planet and humanity.

For thousands of years, light workers, peacekeepers, shamans, healers, spiritual warriors, angels and saints from around the globe have joined together to work with this powerful energy on the days of Equinox.

The Spring Equinox symbolises the time to sow the seeds for the future we are manifesting, while the Autumn Equinox represents the time to harvest what we have sowed and nurtured over the past season.

Equinox occurs only twice in the year, when the Sun is directly over the Equator, and the days and nights are of equal length all over the world, representing a time of balance between the light and the dark.

A vast number of ancient cultures built their greatest architectures -- tombs, temples, cairns and sacred observatories -- so that they aligned with the Solstices and Equinoxes, which were recognised as particularly powerful days of the year by ancient civilizations, including the early Egyptians, who built the Great Sphinx so that it faces directly towards the rising sun on the day of Equinox.

March 21st is Mayan New Year!

We enter into new energies of 6 EB & 10 KAT. Are you ready?

This is the year where the South reigns as the Supreme Ruler! What does this mean to you and me? It means we can manifest our visions of a new future right now!

In the Yucatec Mayan Calendar, we enter into a 6 EB year. It is a year in which we return to reclaim our destiny's purpose and to finish what was not completed in previous lives. It is a year in which our creation can flow easily.

Eb resides in the Heart Chakra and has powerful emotion, but we find ourselves getting hurt easily if we take things personally. Eb also will influence us with powerful psychic abilities and a great drive to get the job done. We will find unity and oneness while feeling more relaxed, courteous, and a desire to be useful.

In the Kiche Maya Calendar (the Calendar of the highland Maya), we enter into a 10 KAT year. This will be a great year in which we will fish out things that are hidden. The trick in this year is not to collect anything that is not useful for the future. Otherwise you will be bogged down with unfinished projects and have a house filled with un-read books and un-used stuff. Kat bundles thoughts, ideas, and wisdom together to create better solutions.

This can be a powerful creative year in which you will collect the tools needed to manifest in this dimension your mission and destiny.

Mayan Grand Elder Wakatel Utiw, "Wandering Wolf," or Don Alejandro, head of the National Mayan Council of Elders of Guatemala and Day Keeper of the Mayan Calendar, gave a speech to the Guatemalan people on January 14, 2008 at the Inauguration Of President Eng. Alvaro Colom Caballeros, which can be read in full here.

Don Alejandro is charged as the primary keeper of the teachings, visions and prophecies of the Mayan people, which are very much alive today. He travels the world sharing the message and prophecies of the Mayans. One prophecy says: "Arise, all arise, not one nor two groups be left behind."

Another says: "Let the morning come, let the dawn come for the people to have peace and be happy. Together we are to see our children. Together we are to see our mountains. Together we are to see our cities. Together we are to see our waters."

His message of hope and empowerment resonates with people of all faiths and beliefs around the globe:

"We the Indigenous People join together in defence of the life of the human species, in defence of the life of our brother animals and the trees and in defence of the life of Mother Earth, because the life of the Planet Earth is in danger.

We all know that what is happening in the world now is not a coincidence. As examples: The hurricanes and the heavy storms that are menacing different places in the world; the high temperatures that day by day rise to higher degree, while in other parts of the world the cold becomes more intense; rivers are drying out and others are disappearing; the glaciers are melting; many places in the world are suffering the effects of natural disasters; and all of these are the result of our imbalance with Nature.

One other thing, our country, our communities are living under fear due to the violence, the drugs, and confrontations with those who are in search for power and wealth...

The Mayan Prophecy says: "Let my big Melody play, let my small Melody play, let my dancers loose, let my prisoners be free; these are my valleys, these are my mountains." These are the words of Rabinal Achi.

Why do I say "my valleys and mountains are prisoners"? Because they are being used as centres for nuclear testing, because they are being perforated without compassion, drawing the blood of Mother Earth, extracting her oil and minerals that only increase the contamination and bring about destruction.

The mountains are prisoners of men because with the chainsaw of the big monopolies are murdering its trees, and with it go the animals that inhabit them.... It is necessary that the behavior of human beings all over the world has to change; the life of the planet Earth is responsibility of all and that is why the invitation from the Indigenous people is for everyone, to help save human life, save the planet thus inheriting a healthy future to the new generations......"
