The Maya Full Moon attunement for Maori Beach, Rakiura (Stewart Island), Aotearoa - New Zealand

The Grand Maya Itza Council will be making a journey in spirit on 18 February to the sacred site of Maori Beach on Rakiura, the pristine southern-most island of Aotearoa - New Zealand, covered in temperate rain forests that have not changed for thousands of years.

It will be the 29th sacred site attunement in a sequence of 52 Full Moon ceremonies leading up to the Full Moon of 28 December, 2012, and the 3rd attunement in the third cycle of four 13-moon cycles which began on 13 November 2008.

Maori Beach is situated on the north east coast of Rakiura, a few miles north of Halfmoon Bay (see map on the right), close to a place called Horseshoe Bay.

As one of several focuses for the planetary side of our healing event, we will be tuning in with the Maya during the full moonrise in our own parts of the world, and sending our collective love and healing to Maori Beach and to all of the ancient sacred sites of the Waitaha or First People who inhabited the land of Aotearoa, today known as New Zealand, before the arrival of the Maori and later, the Europeans.

Many of these megalithic sites  are marked with stone constructions and stone circles. More info about the ancient inhabitants of Aotearoa below.

For the list of the 52 sacred sites and the full moon dates on which the Maya will be attuning each site, go to this link.

Rakiura (Stewart Island)

Rakiura is the Maori name for Stewart Island. It translates as "the Land of the Glowing Skies", probably referring to the night-time displays of Aurora Australis, the Southern Lights.

It is the third-largest island of NZ, lying 30 kilometres south of the South Island and has a population of just over 400 people, most of whom live in the settlement of Horseshoe Bay, also known as Oban.

Rakiura Island is the southernmost rain forest in the world and a refuge for many of New Zealand's endemic species.  It's mist-drenched forests provide insight into what mainland New Zealand was like before the arrival of humans.

Captain Cook  is commonly thought to have been the first European to sight the island in 1770, but he assumed it was part of South Island, and not a separate island. Stewart Island was named  in honour of William W. Stewart, who was first officer on the ship Pegasus, which visited from Port Jackson (Sydney), Australia, in 1809 on a sealing expedition. Stewart charted the island, thus proving it really was an island and not part of South Island.

Most of the island has rceently been declared part of Rakiura National Park.

Walking trail leading to Maori Beach

The pre-Maori First People of Aotearoa - the Waitaha

There is evidence of advanced human settlements in New Zealand at least 2000 years ago, and probably as far back as 2500 BC. The peaceful First People that inhabited the land before the migration of several warring tribes from the Pacific around 800 years ago were enslaved, killed and sometimes even eaten, and the survivors were assimilated by the invading tribes, now known collectively as the Maori and officially recognized as the indigenous people of the land.

Though one of our focuses for the planetary healing side of this event is the Maya attunement for Maori Beach, it is likely that our collective higher selves will be working in a more general way with the energy of the country, to clear disharmonic energy caused by the genocide of the first human inhabitants, and that the focus will be on a clearing of all the megalithic sacred sites of New Zealand.

Journalist Gary Cook has for several years has been investigating, photographing and recording stone megaliths, domes, observatories and ritual burial sites and says a lot of what he has seen in NZ is not of Maori origin

One of his biggest finds was the Waipoua Forest stone city in Northland (see pics above zand below) which he describes as a treasure trove of pre-Maori stone structures....

However, the government of NZ has for many years been actively suppressing and even destroying evidence of ancient pre-Maori cultures , sometimes with bulldozers, including the discovery of hundreds of ancient skeletans in cave burial sites, some of them over 1.8 metres tall, some with with long blonde hair reaching to their knees, and others with red hair that resemble other mummified remains found in Peru.

Whose bones truly lie in the burial caves throughout the length and breadth of New Zealand and why has there been a concerted effort to either hide or destroy skeletal evidence?

The NZ government has made it almost impossible for scientists and archeologists to conduct DNA testing or carbon testing, and has placed a 75-year  embargo (until 2063) on the release of documents related to the stone city found in Waipoua Forest, including the information on radio carbon dating of 16 sites with nearly 2000 stones structures.

Some of the info and the government's suppression of it is discussed on this forum and also here, here and here.  The reason for the suppression of the unpalatable truth about the real First People of NZ is that the crown has already conferred "Indigenous Rights" to the Maori, and have made a huge settlement to the Maori people, who claim to be the indigenous people of the region.

Other important information comes from historian and archaeologist, Barry Brailsford, who was approached in the late `80s by Waitaha elders and asked to write down what had been, until then, the oral and very secret history of their people. The Waitaha knowledge he recorded adds more than a thousand years to documented New Zealand history.

Mr Brailsford say the Waitaha came to New Zealand from various islands in the Pacific, and that when elders foresaw the destruction of their peace-loving nation by later arrivals of warriors from the Pacific, the knowledge was not shared outside the Waitaha, to protect the sacredness of their ancestors from violence and warfare. There is an interesting discussion with him about the teachings of the Waitaha at this link.

The real knowledge of the Waitaha was kept alive in an oral tradition entrusted to just a handful of people.
"Until now we have hidden our beginnings, and all that followed, in the shadows. In this way we protected our knowledge in the silence of the Whare Wananga, the School of Learning of Waitaha.

"For it has been decided it is time for our treasures to be brought into the light.

"We do this for the children, and their children, and all who call this land home.

"We are of Tane Matua, and we follow Rongo Marae Roa, the God of Peace."
According to Mr Brailsford, the Waitaha comprised three different peoples:
  1. The Moriori, who at the time were giants, over 1.8 metres tall and superb gardeners;
  2. The Urukehu, a fair-skinned people also known as the Starwalkers, who were skilled at reading the geometry of the stars and were the navigators guiding the people to this land;
  3. And the Kiritea or Stone people, who came from Asian lands and who carried the legendary greenstone over the mountain passes.
Waitaha elders decided to release the information about their past in line with an ancient prophesy that they say was fulfilled by a special alignment of stars in 1990, and asked Mr Brailsford to record it. The book, Song of Waitaha, was released with great ceremony in 1994 after an extraordinary journey undertaken by Mr Brailsford, which included leading a team of people across the Southern Alps to reopen old Waitaha greenstone trails that had been closed for 130 years.

Barry Brailsford has said simply, "Ten years ago when I was called to write the story of Waitaha I was told by the elders that I would be challenged by Maori who did not want the story revealed, by Pakeha in the academic world who would not believe it, and by others who would walk with their own agendas."

Read more at this link.

An excerpt from a talk given by Barry Brailsford about the First People of NZ at the Convergence Festival in 1997 at this link, and several interesting YouTube interviews with him here: Song of the Waitaha  and here.

Barry maintains that another extraordinary sacred site, the ancient Kaimanawa Forest Wall (see pics below), would link New Zealand with Egypt, South America, and other ancient civilisations.

The wall was created at least 2000 years ago by the Waitaha, who were subsequently nearly exterminated by the Maoris.

The image shows blocks, some weighing tonnes, deep in the Kaimanawa Ranges. The stones are a uniform 1.9 metres wide by 1.6 metres tall, and 1 metre wide. The faces are smooth, with no saw or adze marks, and the interfaces are knife-blade thin.

During the treatment process, we will work with each participant individually and also as part of the group. The participants will be assisting the planetary healing by anchoring the healing energy in their part of the world, and releasing disharmonic energies no longer needed, on an individual and collective level. For those who have never before experienced vibrational healing work, this is the ideal opportunity.

We use a cutting-edge approach known as Synchronization Harmonics, and participation is open on a donation basis to anyone, anywhere in the world. Or you may choose to take advantage of Earth Heal annual membership at a nominal fee, to be included as a participant in group remote events to be held on the Solstices and Equinoxes as well as other significant dates over the next year, and receive a discount on private treatments arranged with Edna Spennato during the year.

Feedback from participants and detailed reports about what came up during the treatment for the group as a whole, and for the collective consciousness on a planetary level, are sent out to all participants after each remote group healing event.

First-time participants should send an e-mail to us at earthheal at gmail dot com by midnight GMT/UT on Thursday 17 February.

This is an opportunity to harmonise with the lunar cycle and the Mayan calendar, and to utilise the powerful incoming energies available for personal and planetary healing on this special day

More info about the September Equinox event below, but first, some info about Equinox and the Maya attunement for Latakia...

Equinox

This is an opportunity to harmonise our rhythms with the solar cycle and to utilise the powerful incoming energies available for personal and planetary healing on this special day.

The September equinox occurs at 03:09 (or 3:09am) GMT/UTC on September 23, 2010. It is also referred to as the autumnal or fall equinox in the northern hemisphere, as well as the spring or vernal equinox in the southern hemisphere.

What happens during the September equinox?

The sun crosses the celestial equator and moves southward during the September equinox, bringing colder weather and less light to the north and warmer weather and more light to the south.

The word “equinox” derives from the Latin words meaning “equal night” and refers to the time when the sun crosses the equator.

According to myth, it was believed that the September equinox is a time of balance when day and night are equal in length and that that by some mystical force eggs can be balanced on their ends on these days. in ancient times, it was also believed that magically it was a good time to enact rituals for protection and security, as well as reflect on successes or failures from the previous months.

Higan, or Higan-e, is a week of Buddhist services observed in Japan during both the September and March equinoxes. Higan means the “other shore” and refers to the spirits of the dead reaching Nirvana after crossing the river of existence. It celebrates the spiritual move from the world of suffering to the world of enlightenment and is a time to remember the dead by visiting, cleaning and decorating their graves and reciting sutras or Buddhist prayers, and offerings of rice balls and sushi.

In China the Mid-Autumn Festival, also known as the Moon Festival, is celebrated around the time of the September equinox. This occasion dates back more than 3000 years and occurs at full moon. It celebrates the abundance of the summer's harvest and originated from the ancient tradition of making offerings to the sun in the spring and to the moon in the autumn. It is also a time for families to get together and people often travel long distances to be with their loved ones. There are fire dragon dances in streets decorated with lanterns and filled with the smell of burning incense.

The Maya Full Moon sacred site attunement for Latakia, Syria

During our healing event, we will also tune in to the 24th Full Moon sacred site attunement of the Grand Maya Itza Council for the ancient Mediterranean port town of Latakia in Syria.

The location of Latakia has a long history of occupation. The Phoenician city of Ramitha was located here, known to the Greeks as Leukê Aktê or 'white coast'. Ramitha dates at least to the second millennium BCE and was a part of the kingdom of Ugarit a few miles further north.

The ancient stone ruins of Ugarit or Ras Shamra are only 14Km north of Latakia.

Ugarit, the kingdom that flourished in the Bronze Ages, dates back much further than 3000 BC. In the 2nd Millennium BC, Ugarit was occupied by the Canaanites, also known as the Phoenicians. Ugarit prospered and flourished for a few hundred years, as a center of trade.

It is believed that Ugarit was heavily destroyed by a tidal wave in the 14th century BC, however it was rebuilt and it redeveloped to renew its prosperity.

In the 13th century BC, it strengthened ties and trading links with the Aegean and passed the first alphabet, as we know it, to the Greeks. Around 1200 BC Ugarit was taken over and destroyed by the 'Sea Peoples'.

Devastating earthquakes in 494 and 555 badly damaged Latakia, but it was rebuilt by Justinian before being seized by the invading Arab army in 638. After being captured by the Crusaders in 1097, the town oscillated between Muslim and Christian control for nearly a century, until it was retaken by Saladin in 1188.

The Citadel of Salah Ed-Din, also known as Saladin's Castle is located c. 30 km east of Latakia, in high mountainous terrain, on a ridge between two deep ravines and surrounded by forest.

The castle was built in ancient times, possibly during the Phoenician period (early first millennium BC). The Phoenicians are said to have surrendered it to Alexander the Great about 334 BC. It then fell to the Assyrians, and then the Persians, and the Seleucid kingdom. It became part of the Roman and Byzantine empires, the Islamic dynasties, and played an important role in the Crusader wars. It was mentioned in the Bible in connection with the Apostles.

The Crusader walls were breached by the armies of Muslim leader Salah ed-Din in July 1188, and it is from this victory that the castle takes its present name. In 1260 it fell back into Crusader hands. At this point it was added to the county of Tripoli, and remained so for nearly a century. Another heavy earthquake destroyed most of Latakia in 1287. It was part of the Ottoman Empire for many centuries and then fell under French rule till the early 20th Century.

In modern times, Latakia has become Syria's main port on the Mediterranean coast. In 1973, during the October War (Yom Kippur War), the naval Battle of Latakia between Israel and Syria was fought just offshore from Latakia.

General info about the upcoming Equinox event

During the treatment process, each participant will receive healing on an individual level and as part of the group, and participants will also be anchoring the planetary healing energies in their part of the world, releasing disharmonic energy and receiving healing energy on a collective level.

We use a cutting-edge distant healing method known as Synchronization Harmonics, and for those who have never before experienced distant healing work, this is the ideal opportunity.

After each healing event, feedback and detailed reports about what came up during the treatment process for the group, as well as for the collective consciousness on a planetary level, are mailed to participants.

First-time participants should e-mail us their details and pics as soon as possible, and no later than midnight GMT/UTC on Wednesday, 22 September.

Worldwide Equinox Didgeridoo Meditation - 23 September 2010

Another global event happening on 23 September is the Worldwide Equinox Didgeridoo Meditation, when hundreds of participants will send a wave of harmonic didge sound around the globe at sunset local times. If you play the didge, consider joining in…. here is what everyone is asked to do:

"...On the 23rd September 2010 at your local sunset time simply play your didgeridoo for 45 minutes (does not have to be non-stop) and then sit for 15 minutes in silence. If you cannot play the didj, you can simply listen to some recorded didj music or play some other instrument.

Please meditate on growing global awareness of how important it is for humanity to take care of the land, just as Aboriginal people have done for tens of thousands of years...."

The Day Out of Time

July 25 is the 365th and final day of the year of the Thirteen Moon Calendar, an harmonic timing standard that measures the year in thirteen even months of 28 days each, a perpetual calendar of 52 perfect weeks, making a total of 364 days.

The 365th day, the "Day Out of Time", is no day of the week or month at all, but truly a Day Out of Time.

For this reason, this special day is observed as the day to cancel debts, to pardon and forgive, and to celebrate life, community, love, synchronicity, universal forgiveness, atonement and purification, through art and culture.

The day has been celebrated since 1992, and was proposed by Jose Arguelles, author of The Mayan Factor, and originator of the 1987 Harmonic Convergence World Peace Meditation.

The offical flag for the Day out of Time is the Banner of Peace.

A Culture of Peace Through A Calendar of Peace

To read about various Day Out Of Time events happening around the world on 25 July, go to this link.

Krapina, Croatia

The focus of the July Full Moon sacred site attunement of the Grand Maya Itza Council is on the town of Krapina in the hilly and beautiful agricultural Zagorje region of Northern Croatia, which has been inhabited since the Palaeolithic Age.

Krapina is located close to Zagreb and is famous for an archaeological discovery in a cave there in 1899, of almost 900 Neanderthal bones dating back around 100 000 years. The fossilised bones belonged to a community of around 75 Neanderthal individuals, along with tools and weapons, making the site one of the most significant in Europe, and today the location of the Neanderthal Museum. Neanderthal hominids became extinct around 30 000 years ago.

A short report back about what came up during the treatment process on 27 May 2010

-------------------------------

All beings everywhere are invited to join us for this global distant healing event, starting at 5 pm GMT/UTC on Wednesday 28 April. To check the starting time in your part of the world, go to this link at the World Clock.

We will be linking with the 20th Full Moon sacred site attunement of the Grand Maya Itza Council for Jibhafanta, Mongolia (more info below).

This is a special event focussing on Abundance and a sense of sufficiency and well being for the participants as individuals, as well as a sense of harmony and balance in terms of the available abundance and resources on a planetary level, for each living part of the Oneness shared by all.

The treatment process will be facilitated by Edna Spennato, located on the NE coast of Brazil, with a surrogate assisting locally in Brazil and five other surrogates anchoring the healing energy and releasing unneeded energies in South Africa, Ireland, Austria and the USA, on behalf of all the participants and the collective consciousness.

The event is also a fund-raiser to support the ongoing pro bono work being done by Earth Heal on the north east coast of Brazil with injured and homeless animals and abandoned litters of kittens, and the distant healing work done for animals and for refugees, victims of war and disasters, and indigent, homeless or disadvantaged people.

Participation in the event is open to anyone, anywhere in the world on a donation basis. Those who cannot afford a donation are included on a pro bono basis, and asked instead to give some bread or provide a meal to someone in your area who is hungry. In terms of being able to receive abundance on a personal level, it is important for us to be able to give as well, and to feel that we always do have something of value to give, not necessarily something with a monetary value.

To be included as a participant, please send your registration form to earthhealadmin at gmail dot com before midnight GMT/UTC on Wednesday 26 May, 2010.

The Maya Full Moon attunement for Jibhafanta, Mongolia

The Grand Mayan Itza Council will be making a journey in spirit to Jibhafanta, Mongolia on 27 May 2010, the 20th in a sequence of 52 ceremonies leading up to the Full Moon of 28 December, 2012.

This attunement is the 7th in the 2nd of four 13-moon cycles which began on 13 November 2008.

We are asked to join them in sending our collective love and healing to Jobhafanta during the full moonrise in our own part of the world.

For more info and the full list of sacred sites and full moon dates released by Don Hunbatz Men of the Grand Maya Itza Council, go to this link.

Where is the sacred site of Jibhafanta?

There are over 600 major sacred sites worshipped in Mongolia, each of them marked by ovoos (heaps of stones, bones and other significant objects left there by people).

Books have been written about the sacred sites of Mongolia, films have been produced, and several lists of the more well-known sites have been published on the web, but Jibhafanta is not mentioned in any of them. And if one does a Google search for "Jibhafanta", nothing about it comes up at all, except for its presence on the list of sacred sites given by the Maya ..... so it's exact location in Mongolia remains a mystery to the world, and perhaps that is the way it should be.

However, fortunately we do not need the GPS coordinates for the purposes of tuning in to the energy of this sacred place. To link up with the Maya ceremony for the site on the Full Moon of 27 May, it is fine to simply consciously connect with the energy and devas of the place through our intention, and we can also say "Jibhafanta" aloud three times to "call in" the vibration of the place.

History

After the 13th century, Mongolia became a Buddhist country, but during the communist period, which lasted from 1924 to 1989, it was violently suppressed in purges which killed tens of thousands of Buddhist monks and destroyed virtually all the monasteries.

Since 1989, Buddhism and the 40 000 year old Tengerism (shamanism) have been re-emerging in Mongolia, and practising shamans and Buddhists have been restoring the beautiful natural environment of Mongolia in accordance with their age-old principles. More info at these links:

Tengerism

In Tengerism, the world is believed to be alive with spirits.

The plants, animals, rocks, mountains and water are all believed to have souls, and these nature spirits must be respected, in order for people to remain in the balance with all of them. Balance is regarded as the crucial factor in keeping harmony within individuals, the community, and the environment. When things get out of balance, there are harmful effects, and this is when the shaman is called on for help.

The Shaman

Western people believe that a shaman is something like a “medicine man”, "holy priest" or “magic doctor”. But in Mongolia and Siberia the shamans are not simple folk doctors, but are regarded as powerful spiritual people who receive help from the world of spirits.

The main function of the shaman is to restore and maintain balance in his community with the assistance of the spirit world.

Shamans conduct blessings, rituals of protection, hunting magic, rain making and divination. They also heal sicknesses which have a spiritual cause. Shamans are the caretakers of traditional culture as well, and their knowledge of ancient tradition and counsel has been sought throughout the ages.

Reverence for nature

In Mongolia, natural sacred sites are protected by the government and treated with utmost respect by the largely nomadic population, and shamans are openly revered once again after hiding in the shadows for 65 years, and are able once again to practise their 40 000 year old traditions.

Within the vicinity of these sites, the cutting of trees, hunting of wild animals or digging of the land is prohibited. Dating back to pre-Buddhist animist beliefs, these taboos serve the double purpose of protecting places of worship and the surrounding environment. These traditions were later incorporated into Buddhism, and are still practised today.

The photographer Hamid Sardar-Afkhami mounts yearly expeditions into outer Mongolia, tracking the raindeer people and recording in pictures and on film the ancient and enduring nomadic civilization, the shamans and their practices and beliefs related to "a fabulous pantheon of spirit-animals. Following horse-breeders, bear-hunters, wolf-tamers, eagle-masters and reindeer people on their seasonal migrations... in a place where men still speak the language of the animals."

Tenger spirituality and interaction with the heavens and nature

Tenger is regarded as the creator and sustainer of balance in the world, nature, the weather and the seasons. Lightning is Tenger’s form of showing displeasure or an indication of high spiritual power.

The crown of the head is believed to have a small piece of Tenger residing in it; it is the point of connection between the individual standing in the center of his world and Heaven above. This point receives energy from Tenger which flows down the center of the person’s soul sphere. This piece of Tenger in a person’s crown has a counterpart star in the Heavens. The star shines brighter or dimmer according to the strength of the person’s windhorse (personal power), and goes out at death.

Objects struck by lightning, meteorites or ancient artefacts are called Tengeriin us (Heaven’s hair). They contain a spirit (utha) which is a concentrated package of Heaven’s power. Objects struck by lightning (nerjer uthatai) and meteorites (buumal uthatai) can be placed in milk or liquor to energize the liquid with the spirit of the object. Shamans drink this liquid to incorporate the power of the utha spirit (Heaven's power).

Sacred mountains, rivers, springs, forests, rocks and trees

Mountains, springs of streams, forests, and individual rocks and trees are regarded as the homes of nature spirits.

A tree symbolizes the world center, where Heaven and earth touch, where all times and places converge. They may be honored by tying on pieces of cloth. The lone birch, the "shaman tree", is called ongonmodon, for these trees are believed to be the home of the shamans' helper spirits, Ongon.

The barisaa (prayer tree - shrine) is an important site of worship (see video clip below).

This ritual is believed to bring peace and reduce violence wherever it is performed, particularly in places that have been sites of death due to war or violence. It calls on the nature spirits to bring inspiration, calm people's hearts, and create thoughts of peace and love, cleansing the soul of evil nature spirits.

The ritual for the calming (reducing of negative energy) of the spirits is believed to have a permanent effect for all people in the community where it is done, not only the participants.

Unusual rocks or trees are believed to have a strong spirit and are respected or given offerings of tobacco or liquor.

Mountain spirits
are considered to be very powerful, and are prayed to in order to provide good hunting and abundance of natural food plants. These ceremonies are usually held around the times of the equinoxes and solstices and the new and full moons, and are usually performed by the elders of the local clan or tribe.

Mountain spirits are worshipped at special shrines called ovoo, which are tall piles of rocks and tree branches, roughly conical in diameter.

Spirits of Animals, Totems, Animal Guides and Hunting

The world of the forest and water is the home of wild animals. They are called amitan, "having an ami or soul" like humans. Animals are believed to reincarnate in the same species, with personalities, language and psychic abilities.

Respect for animal spirits dictates certain rules for hunting, and hunters apologize to animals when killing them, explaining that they need to take the meat and hide for their survival. Domestic animals are also killed in a respectful manner.

Certain animals such as the bear, eagle, blue wolf and red deer, are considered to be totems or symbolic ancestors for tribes or clans. The porcupine, snake, fox, weasel, spider, and pheasant are believed to often be shamans who are soul travelling, and are usually not eaten. Animal spirits are also guides and teachers for shamans.

Rivers, lakes, rivulets, springs, and the ocean are the residence of the water animals as well as a passageway for spirits. The water is full of spirits and the loon above all other birds is believed to communicate with the souls in the water. The cry of the loon is frequently imitated in the songs of Mongolian and Siberian shamans. Among the fish the pike is considered powerful.

The Ovoo or shrine

The Ovoo (hill), heap or cairn, is the equivalent of a shaman's shrine or altar. This is a heap of bones or stone formed by people paying their respects at the ovoo. They are inhabited by the spirits of the locality, local deities (nibdagh and shiddagh) of the Mongolian people. When passing by an ovoo, travellers are required to walk around it three times clockwise, and place a rock on it, adding symbolically to the spirit’s power, and by adding the rock he also receives energy for his windhorse (personal psychic power) and good luck for his journey.

Ceremonies are held at ovoo during the year which nearby families or clans would celebrate in honor of the local spirit as well as Father Heaven and Mother Earth and other shaman spirits.
